No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader. I have my wonderful friend, Sydney Scrogham, helping me with final edits to my first book! Her comments and edits are so helpful and are helping me to broaden my story and add even more details. I am loving my edits and am becoming even more excited to see where these edits will take me and how my story will come to life with all of its readers!

Recently, for an English assignment, I had to look at two different paragraphs I have written and say why I liked one of them and why I didn't like the other one. I chose to do my two paragraphs on paragraphs from my book I am working on titled, The Silver Locket. One of the paragraphs came from the very beginning of the book and was the preface to it. I decided I liked that one because of how descriptive it was. I could really picture what was going on. I had images of the scene I had been describing in my head as I read through the paragraph. Of course it may be easier for me to picture it since I wrote it and knew what I had intended to describe, but like with books I buy and read for pleasure, I could picture the scene in my head. The books I really enjoy are the ones where I can picture what is going on in my head as if I had actually watched a movie rather than read a book. The paragraph I don't like as much is from the middle of the book in the middle of a scene. Therefore, there are most likely more details surrounding it, but not as many in the paragraph itself. The second paragraph didn't have enough detail for me to picture the scene as well as the first. However, I'm sure if I had read the surrounding paragraphs I would have been able to picture the scene more vividly. So, to wrap it all up, details are important!!! :)
~Lindsey Photo by Samantha Marie Robinson I edited the remaining eighteen chapters and the epilogue of The Silver Locket that had yet to have another round of edits today! It makes me very happy. Now to continue on with more edits until I've perfected it as much as I can on my own. Then it's on to peer editors and looking for a publisher! How exciting. Keep pursuing your dreams so that you can make them a reality! :) ~Lindsey I just finished editing seven chapters in the book I'm working on titled,The Silver Locket! It took me somewhere around two and a half to three hours, so now I'm taking a break and will hopefully edit some more later tonight. My goal is to finish one round of edits by Friday so I can start another round! ~Lindsey |
